I recommend wearing those disposable latex gloves when applying gloss paint, then all you do is grab the bristles whilst still wearing the glove and then pull the glove over the brush. When returning to the task all you do is discard the glove and commence painting again. An alternative is to wrap your brush in cling film.

Feeling lazy and want to leave your brush in thinners or brush cleaning fluids overnight?

 

Shame on you………..unless my brushes are stolen from my van they last me for years—because I clean them and put them away immediately after each task.

 

OK, so you ain’t me, so to help you avoid the paint residue sticking to the bottom of the brush in the container, just drill a hole through the brush ferrule and insert a nail or wire and prop it on the container rim such that the bristles whilst remaining in the cleaning fluid are suspended above the container bottom.

 

You can re-use the thinners by straining the fluid through stockings or tights or if the other half objects use one of those coffee filter paper cones
